Ra’d al-Ghadir charity is a non-political, non-governmental, non-profit and of public-utility organization that aims to empower motor and physically-disabled persons through the process of “technical and vocational training”, “rehabilitation”, “dentistry” and effective support of their “Occupation and Social Entrepreneurship” that officially was funded in November 2001.
After going through the administrative formalities and obtaining legal grounds from the Ministry of Interior, Welfare Organization, Technical and Vocational Education Organization and Greater Tehran Security Police, this institution was registered in the Registration Office of Companies and Non-Commercial Institutions with number 21700 on October 28, 2006.
From the beginning of Ra’d al-Ghadir’s activity in Yaftabad quarter until now, more than 5,000 physically-disabled persons living in this region and neighboring areas as well as the cities around Tehran (Islamshahr, Robat Karim, Qalahasan Khan, Pakdasht, Pishva, Varamin, Shahr Ray and Karaj) have benefited from the “100% gratis” services of this institution.
Considering the goal of the founders and supporters of this institution, Ra’d al-Ghadir is to work against the thought of incapacity, self-indulgence and almsgiving, and in sharp contrast, promoting and crystalizing the idea of ability and real endeavor to provide decent livelihood so that this institution decided to support job creation and development of social entrepreneurship, with the aim of benefiting persons with disabilities.
Currently, this charity as one of the social entrepreneurs in the implementation and development of this new culture, by creating occupation for 1000 persons of disabilities (PDs) including motor and physically-disabled, blind and visually impaired, deaf and hard of hearing disabilities in assistive workshops such as: “Contact Centers”, “Sewing Workshop” as well as “Self-Employment Support Workshops” in the field of “Handicrafts and Arts” and “Job Placement” in Tehran province. As a referable model to Welfare Organization and also among other charities, it bears the same mission in the field of professional and social empowerment of persons of disabilities (PDs).
Furthermore, to materialize social justice and make the necessary facilities accessible to persons of disabilities (PDs) in other provinces of the country, the personnel of this institution, with the participation of donors, have established similar centers in the cities of: Bushehr, Bandar Abbas, Gilan, Kashan, Isfahan, Shiraz, Aliguderz, Pakdasht, Hamedan, Borujen, and Chabahar.
