Foundation History

It was the year 1984, at the culmination of Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988) when the vast bombarding every day, leaving mothers heartbroken and fathers disillusioned at the moment they had hoped their offsprings would blossom.

But the well-born Iranian youth, with the lofty ideals of Islam and unwavering faith in God circulating through their veins, united once more to narrate a tale of patience and perseverance. This time, the victorious engineers returning from the war against aggression, covenanted with the martyred comrades they had left behind to nurture the sapling of service to the war veterans of our beloved Iran.

This time, the honored engineers who returned from imposed war against the enemy’s aggression made a covenant with the rosy shrouded martyrs and comrades who are pleasing in the eyes of God to drink the nectar of martyrdom to water the saplings of service to the war veterans of our dear homeland of Iran and be a shadow for the growth of their beliefs. Then, they envisioned creation of an institution where technical and vocational skills could be taught to the persons of disability and war veterans, setting an exemplary of service to them and seeking the approval of God and the servants of their land.

The beginning of work with the name of God, with training conducted in two small rooms, but with the great extent of their love for the vulnerable section of the society, the first training center started working in Ghiasi charity clinic under the name of Ra’d Foundation. A foundation later on aimed to ignite a spark of hope in the hearts of the veterans, along with a shower of love on the pain-ridden bodies, believing in the fertile soil of their existence that had endured years of war.

The service routine began with 8 war veteran trainees in a rented space in the Yaft Abad quarter of Tehran. The parking lot of the Ababsir School for the blind was renovated and transformed into a school and a place to expand training, including drafting and motor-winding. The continuous effort to meet the needs of war veterans and people of disability in society bore fruit, and once again, God’s mercy was bestowed upon the hardworking engineers. In 1993, a 2,700 sqm plot of land in Phase 2 of Shahrak-e Gharb was acquired by Ministry of Education, as a result of efforts to elevate the status of people of disability. Then, two rooms were built there, and motor-winding training resumed.

But the story of the effort, confidence, and supplication of the servants of God, who had acquired the engineering of ethics along the way, did not end there. With the support of benefactors, they became able to establish an institution with a standing property of 4,300 sqm and more than 220 trainees inspired to pursuit education, employment, and achieving the highest level of independence, where they could acquire skills in various fields such as sewing, computers, pastry making, and speech therapy (logopedics). The efforts of all the servants of the Ra’d complex were focused on removing the obstacles to the persons of disability reaching the highest peaks of success. Based on this, all services provided completely gratis so that the financial concerns that are one of the obstacles to the growth of a person of disability would be resolved in their minds, and they could take firm steps towards the future with a steady posture.

And then,

another center of the Ra’d al-Ghadir charity was established in southwestern Tehran in 2000, relying on the grace of God. The story of service goes on, and we believe there are still warriors for the faith and combatants on the path of God’s consent, stand prepared to bring a smile to the lips of a person of disability and provide comprehensive support to them, granting a novel sense to “ability”. We have a firm hope that under the protection of God, who is kind, merciful and compassionate to His servants, this shall be accomplished and approved by Him. Amen
